Jean-Charles Castelletto puts an end to speculation about his withdrawal from Cameroon's squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations
Called up to the Indomitable Lions for the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, Jean-Charles Castelletto was unable to attend. He was absent from David Pagou's squad, which went to defend Cameroon in Morocco.
This fuelled speculation that he had withdrawn for reasons unrelated to sport. But a few days after the tournament, the 30-year-old defender addressed the issue. When questioned by RMC Sport, the Cameroonian initially tried to avoid the subject. ‘I don't necessarily want to talk about it, excuse me, because I plan to talk about it later.’
But at the insistence of his interviewer, he finally confirmed, ‘It was indeed a withdrawal due to injury, there's no problem,’ he admitted.
Jean-Charles Castelletto also commented on the Cameroon national team's performance at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. ‘Honestly, I really enjoyed what I saw. The players showed solidarity, the group was united, and the coach was humble and confident in his team. The Lions presented a very positive image.’
