January's top target! Milan preparing a blockbuster signing
The Italian giants have identified their key transfer target as they prepare to significantly strengthen their defense during the winter window.
Details: AC Milan have made 25-year-old Sporting Lisbon center-back Gonçalo Inácio their absolute priority for the upcoming January transfer window. The report comes from respected football insider Ekrem Konur.
The Rossoneri owners have approved a major financial investment in order to convince the Portuguese club's hierarchy to release their key player midway through the season. The defender's contract includes a €60 million release clause, although Milan are hoping Sporting will show flexibility regarding the payment schedule and structure of the deal.
The Portugal international is open to a change and is seeking a new direction for his career, viewing the Rossoneri's project at San Siro as an excellent opportunity to prove himself in Italy's Serie A.
It is worth noting that Gonçalo Inácio came through every level of Sporting's academy, won two Portuguese league titles with the club and established himself as a mainstay in the national team's defense.
Reminder: Could Sporting appoint a new manager? Porto fans will not be happy!
