James Bogere opens the scoring for Uganda against DR Congo
The Leopards are trailing 1–0 at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg in the first leg of this two-legged friendly tie between the two sides.
Uganda took the lead within the first 10 minutes. A misplaced clearance by Congolese goalkeeper Dimitri allowed James Bogere to open the scoring for the Uganda Cranes in the 7th minute, making it 1–0.
Caught off guard, Sébastien Desabre’s side redoubled their efforts to get back into the game. However, the Leopards were unable to find a way through to equalise. The two teams went into the break with the Cranes holding this narrow lead.
The Congolese will need to dig deep in the second half if they are to catch up with the Ugandans in this match, which is being played behind closed doors at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. This is the first match for both sides following the first two matchdays of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
