DR Congo lose friendly to Uganda
The Cranes dominated the Leopards at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg in the first leg of their two-legged friendly series during this international break.
Uganda took the lead in the first half of the match, which was played behind closed doors in Johannesburg. A misplaced clearance by Congolese goalkeeper Dimitri allowed James Bogere to open the scoring for the Cranes in the 7th minute, making it 1-0.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo tried to get back into the game before half-time but were unable to do so. The two teams went into the break with Uganda holding the lead.
The Cranes added to their lead shortly after the break. Kelvin Boateng doubled Uganda’s lead in the 49th minute, taking the score to 2–0. But the Congolese were unable to respond until the final whistle.
Uganda thus won this first leg of the international friendly. The return leg of this two-legged tie is scheduled for Monday 5 October.
