Jakob Poulsen on Hugo Broos snubbing Gift Links for Bafana Bafana: I think he is three times better than what Bafana Bafana has at the moment

Jakob Poulsen has expressed shock at Gift Links’ continuous absence from the Bafana Bafana squad.

Poulsen coaches Links at Danish side Arhus GF and the former Cape Town City midfielder has been a standout performer for his side but Hugo Broos has not given him a call since 2021.

Links has five goals and six assists in 27 matches to his name in this campaign and has been name in the Team of the Week in the Danish SuperLiga and also a Player of the Month nominee.

These accolades show that the left-footed player has been impressive in the Scandinavia but has not been given an opportunity to showcase his talent at Bafana.

"Gift has been fantastic this whole season. He is a crazy one-on-one player and has such fast feet and incredible speed," Poulsen said.

"From standstill positions, he can get away from his opponent every time. At the same time, he has a really good work rate, up and down the pitch; he’s a pleasure to have on my team.

"I can’t understand; I don’t know the South African national team that well.

"But with the level he has shown over a really long period, I would be very surprised if they have three players who are better than him in that position."
