Jackpot! How much did FIFA earn from this World Cup?
The World Cup has turned into a real goldmine for FIFA.
Details: According to The Guardian, FIFA is preparing to announce record-breaking revenues of $15 billion generated from the 2026 World Cup. Before the tournament, the organization had expected to earn around $11 billion.
It is reported that FIFA president Gianni Infantino has already informed national football associations about the sharp increase in revenue.
A significant portion of the extra earnings came from hospitality programs and ticket sales, especially on the secondary market. FIFA takes a 15% commission from both the buyer and the seller for each ticket transaction.
The expected financial surplus is likely to impact the organization’s future investments in football development and allow for increased support to national associations. However, the final distribution plan for the additional funds has yet to be approved.
Reminder: No long break for the show. FIFA confirms halftime duration for World Cup final.
