The 19-year-old shone on Wednesday 21 October, scoring a goal and providing an assist in the Merengues’ emphatic 4-1 victory over his former club, Leipzig, in the Champions League.

Criticised following his arrival during the summer transfer window, Yan Diomande now seems to have found his rhythm. The Ivory Coast international is making his mark more and more on the pitch, where his effectiveness is becoming clear.

Coming on as a substitute in the 70th minute against Leipzig in the Champions League, it took Yan Diomande just a few minutes to make his mark. The Ivorian first provided an assist for Mbappé to make it 3-0, before scoring Real Madrid’s fourth goal in the 87th minute.

The Ivory Coast international has now been instrumental on six occasions in his last four matches. This positive run of form is helping him gain confidence.

After a debut marred by criticism, Yan Diomande seems to be gradually changing perceptions thanks to his performances. The Ivory Coast winger will, however, need to keep up this momentum to prove his potential and establish himself as a key player at Real Madrid in the long term.
