Ivorian Football Federation Announces Significant Budget Increase for 2025
The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) has announced an enormous increase in its 2025 budget, which currently stands at over 24.68 billion FCFA (about 37.8 million euros), representing a 74.9% increase over the 2024 budget of 14.11 billion FCFA (21.62 million euros).
The budget, voted unanimously during the FIF’s Extraordinary General Assembly with local clubs on Thursday, is primarily funded by financing and sponsorship revenues. This surge is largely attributed to the record-breaking success of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), which brought in new audience and profit records. The FIF received €12.8 million from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as a result of organizing what is considered the best edition of the tournament since its inception in 1957.
A significant portion of the 2025 budget, over 41%, will be allocated to “structuring projects,” including the construction of the Bingerville Center and the renovation of the FIF’s headquarters. Insufficient details on the precise allocations for these projects, however, have raised concerns among the Ivorian populace.
The AGM also saw reforms in the status of player transfers and the establishment of a national football tribunal, aimed at strengthening the governance of Ivorian football.
