Ivory Coast’s Gbohouo: "We’re Here to Win, Not Defend"
Ahead of their pivotal return leg in the CHAN 2024 qualifiers, Ivory Coast's Elephants A' team's seasoned goalkeeper Sylvain Gbohouo, speaking at a press conference in Bamako, highlighted his team's resolute determination to defeat Burkina Faso and guarantee their place in the tournament.
"The group is doing well overall. We talk a lot among ourselves. We are 25 players on and off the pitch. The first leg is behind us. We did not come to Bamako to defend the two goals from the first leg, but to win and go back to Abidjan with the victory and qualification," he stated confidently.
Gbohouo, who won the African championship in 2015, stressed how important this match is for the team. "We’ve adjusted well and are prepared to qualify," he said.
After their convincing 2-0 victory in Abidjan, the Elephants A's objective is to guarantee their place in the 2024 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship, and they want to complete the job against Burkina Faso on Saturday, December 28, at the Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako.
