"It's hard to reach my father's level": Rivaldo's son opens up about his career
Rivaldinho, the son of Brazilian football legend Rivaldo, has admitted that he has no chance of matching his father’s level. The forward shared his thoughts in an interview with Orange Sport.
Last week, Rivaldinho left Romanian club Farul Constanța to move to China, where he will play for Qingdao Red Lions—a far cry from the prestigious clubs his father represented during his career.
"The world has high expectations. People thought I would be at my father's level, there's no way, neither my child nor his child will be what Rivaldo was," Rivaldinho admitted.
He also spoke about the challenges of growing up as Rivaldo’s son, explaining that the constant pressure and expectations made his career more difficult.
Rivaldo remains a Barcelona icon, winning the 1999 Ballon d’Or and leading the club to multiple trophies. He also won the 2002 Champions League with AC Milan and lifted the 2002 World Cup with Brazil—achievements that set an almost impossible benchmark for his son to follow.
