WBO light welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez (20-1, 13 KOs) commented on the decision of the undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) to vacate the IBF title.

"They vacated the title because they don't want to deal with mandatory challengers who, at this stage, nobody knows in the weight category. It's business, as I've said before. You can vacate the titles of these sanctioning bodies.

I should have done that with George Kambosos. After several postponements of the fight, I should have vacated the belt. Then everyone else's plans would have been in the trash. Devin Haney would never have become the undisputed world champion. At least, he wouldn't have become one so quickly," Lopez said to Fight Hub TV.

Recently, Usyk recorded a video message announcing that the belt is important for AJ and Dubois, so he is gifting it to them. On September 21, they will fight to determine the new IBF heavyweight champion.

By the way, Teofimo Lopez previously made a harsh statement towards Devin Haney.
