Milan is actively searching for ways to bolster its defensive line for the new season, and this pursuit has brought the club’s focus to the Ukrainian star.

Details: According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, a meeting took place yesterday between representatives of Milan and London’s Arsenal, during which the potential transfer of Zinchenko to the Rossoneri was discussed in depth.

Allegri sees Zinchenko as a potential replacement for Theo Hernandez, who, despite not giving the green light to a move to Al-Hilal, still does not feature in the new coach’s plans for the season.

Milan is not prepared to pay more than €15 million for the Ukrainian and also expects the 28-year-old defender to accept a pay cut, as his current salary at Arsenal is €5 million per year—a figure Milan’s management considers excessive and is unwilling to match for the Ukrainian’s services.

Last season was far from convincing for Zinchenko: he lost his spot in Arsenal’s starting lineup, featuring in only 23 matches and recording just 2 goal contributions (goals plus assists).

The player’s transfer value is estimated at €20 million.
