The leader of the Italian national biathlon team, Dorothea Wierer, will miss the upcoming stage of the Biathlon World Cup.

The Italian Winter Sports Federation has released the roster of biathletes for the fourth stage, which will take place in Oberhof, Germany, from January 4th to 7th. Dorothea Wierer concluded the third stage ahead of schedule and will now begin preparing directly for the fifth stage of the World Cup, scheduled to be held in Ruhpolding.

Italy's Team Composition

  • Women: Hanna Oeberg, Lisa Vittozzi, Samuel Komola, Rebecca Passler, Mikela Carrara, Beatrice Trabucchi
  • Men: Dide Biathlon, Elia Dzeni, Tommaso Giacomel, Patrick Braungoffer, Lukas Hofer

Dorothea Wierer is an Italian biathlete, a three-time bronze medalist in the Olympic Games, a four-time world champion, and the overall world champion among juniors in 2011.

She has won the Biathlon World Cup twice in the seasons 2018/19, 2019/20, two small crystal globes in the individual races (seasons 2015/16, 2020/21), the small crystal globe in the pursuit discipline for the 2018/19 season, and the small crystal globe in the mass start for the 2019/20 season.
