"It was the right decision" - Thomas Tuchel comments on leaving Palmer, Foden and others out of World Cup squad

Thomas insists that it was a very tough decision.

Details: England national team head coach Thomas Tuchel has commented on his decision not to include a number of key players in the final squad for the 2026 World Cup.

Tuchel admitted that it was a difficult but necessary call:

"I had to make some tough phone calls. In some cases, it was simply a matter of balance, making sure we don't take FIVE number tens in the squad.

Even though it hurt, I believe it was the right decision for England." Tuchel said.

Thomas Tuchel left out players like Maguire, Alexander-Arnold, Foden, and Palmer from the World Cup squad, which sparked outrage among the Three Lions' fans.

At the 2026 World Cup, England will compete in Group L alongside Croatia, Panama, and Ghana.
