It was legendary. Luis Suarez announced the end of his career with the Uruguay national team
Another football legend has decided to end his international career. This time, it's Inter Miami forward Luis Suárez.
The Uruguayan superstar announced that the upcoming match against Paraguay in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers will be his farewell appearance for the national team.
"Friday will be my last match for the national team. I’ve thought a lot about this and analyzed it; the time has come. I’m leaving with peace of mind because I gave everything I could for the national team. I have no regrets. I’m very happy that I’m doing this on my own terms, not due to injuries or being left out of the squad.
I hope for a big celebration and a team victory because it’s still a World Cup qualifier, three points are at stake, and we must take it seriously," Suárez said.
Luis Suárez is the all-time top scorer for the Uruguayan national team, with 69 goals in 142 matches.
