The German national team is scheduled to play two friendly matches against France on March 23rd and the Netherlands on March 26th.

Midfielder Leon Goretzka from Bayern Munich was not called up to the national team. According to Bild, there are two reasons behind this decision. Firstly, he does not fit into the vision of the head coach, Julian Nagelsmann, who wants a genuine defensive midfielder alongside Toni Kroos.

Secondly, the coach doubts that Goretzka would accept a substitute role. During the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, there were debates on this matter. Additionally, in a friendly match against Japan, Hansi Flick substituted Goretzka for Gundogan when Germany was leading. Following this decision, the team lost control of the game, and Japan defeated Germany 4-1.

However, sources added that Goretzka still has a chance to make it to the squad for the upcoming Euro Championship if he continues to perform well, as he has in his recent games for Bayern Munich.

It's worth noting that the goalkeeper of the German national team and Bayern Munich suffered an injury. He ended the morning training session prematurely due to a torn left adductor muscle fiber. Therefore, Manuel Neuer will miss the next two friendly matches of his national team.
