The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has published a statement regarding the participation of athletes from Russia and Belarus at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

According to the statement, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) will allow qualified athletes with Russian and Belarusian passports to participate in the Olympic Games scheduled for Paris in the summer of 2024.

"The International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee will allow qualified athletes with Russian and Belarusian passports to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris as individual neutral athletes ("AIN") and the Paralympic Games as neutral Paralympic athletes ("NPA")," the statement reads.

It is also noted that tennis players will be permitted to compete under a neutral flag if they adhere to the IOC's principles regarding AIN and the IPC's principles regarding NPA. Additionally, athletes from these countries must meet selection and qualification requirements.

"The ITF's decision is aligned with the majority of international federations (IFs) regarding individual competitions and athletes participating in the 2024 Paris Games this summer. The ITF's position also corresponds to the existing international tennis policy, which was adopted in March 2022," the statement added.

It's worth noting that Romanian tennis player Simona Halep is now eligible to return to play after winning her appeal in the arbitration court.
