It has become known what decision the FIA made regarding the Mercedes engine
With the start of the new Formula 1 season approaching, the issue surrounding the Mercedes engine had still not been resolved, and the matter was discussed at one of the FIA meetings.
Details: Following the meeting, it emerged that there will be no amendments to the technical regulations concerning the Mercedes power unit. It was agreed that no immediate significant regulatory changes are required.
Quote: “Given that the initial data and feedback remain inconclusive, and that premature changes carry the risk of increasing instability ahead of the opening race. Further reviews will be conducted once additional data becomes available,” the statement read.
Earlier, we reported that Ferrari, Audi and Honda had raised concerns that Mercedes had allegedly found a way to circumvent the rules by developing engines with a compression ratio of 18:1, while the 2026 regulations set a maximum of 16:1. If true, this could increase output by approximately 15 horsepower.
Reminder: Antonelli was returning home to San Marino when he lost control of an exclusive car and ended up in a ditch.
