Issa Tounkara signs for Southampton

The young Malian midfielder is set to officially join the Saints this summer.
Issa Tounkara takes a step up in his young career. The young Malian international impressed at the 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations. And of all the suitors who had expressed interest, it was Southampton who managed to secure his services. His signing was made official on Monday 13 April by the English club.
Southampton Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Malian youth international midfielder Issa Tounkara. The 17-year-old talent, signed from the Académie des Etoiles du Mandé in his home country, was welcomed to Staplewood during a recent visit before agreeing terms to officially join the club this summer following his 18th birthday.
