Issa Doumbia has made his choice between Ivory Coast and Italy

Born in Lombardy to Ivorian parents, the 22-year-old midfielder is expected to opt for the Italian national team, rather than the Elephants of Ivory Coast.

According to reports from Nicolò Schira, Issa Doumbia intends to turn down the Ivory Coast national team in favour of Italy. The young player, who currently plays for Sporting CP, is said to have preferred the Italian national team, for whom he is expected to make his debut very soon.

The 22-year-old midfielder is expected to be called up to the Squadra Azzurra for the upcoming Nations League matches, scheduled for September. If this call-up goes ahead, it could mark the start of Issa Doumbia’s international career with the Italian national team.

Issa Doumbia has already represented Italy. The midfielder has worn the jersey of the Italian Under-21s, which represents a first step in his international career.
