Ismael Saibari undergoes surgery following serious injury
Morocco will have to do without their Bayern Munich midfielder for the upcoming international break.
Ismael Saibari suffered a serious injury to his right ankle during Der Klassiker between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, played on Saturday 31 October. Forced to leave the pitch after twisting his ankle, the Moroccan international underwent medical tests, the results of which confirmed a tear in the syndesmotic ligament of his right ankle.
Bayern Munich announced the news, stating that the player had already undergone successful surgery. This injury is expected to keep Ismaël Saibari off the pitch for an extended period.
This is a real blow for the Atlas Lions, who will therefore be unable to count on their midfielder for the double-header against Niger. The two matches, which form part of Matchdays 3 and 4 of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, are scheduled for 13 and 17 November.
