Isaac Cruz defended his WBC super lightweight title!

At Pechanga Arena in San Diego, a super lightweight bout (up to 63.5 kg) for the interim WBC world title took place, with Mexican boxer Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz defending his belt against Puerto Rican Nestor Bravo.

Details: The bout was extremely tense, while the challenger repeatedly crossed the line. Bravo was knocked down in the opening round, after which he began breaking the rules on a regular basis: landing low blows, throwing his opponent to the canvas and attempting to push him out of the ring. For his numerous fouls, the referee deducted points from the Puerto Rican.

The finish came in the sixth round, when Cruz caught his opponent with a devastating left hook, sending Bravo into a brutal knockout. The challenger was unable to beat the referee’s count.

The 28-year-old Mexican successfully returned to winning ways after his draw with Lamont Roach and retained his interim WBC super lightweight title. The victory was the 29th of his professional career.
