Despite occasional appearances in the media, work on the Super League project continues tirelessly, and its results are already becoming apparent.
Details: According to Mundo Deportivo, the tournament organizers have surveyed around 100 clubs that compete at the continental level or have plans to do so. Of these, about sixty have expressed their willingness to participate in the Super League.
Interestingly, there is an idea to allow the champions of national leagues to play in the top tier of the Super League, regardless of their historical status. For example, if Lille wins Ligue 1, they could compete in the Star League because they earned it on the pitch. However, this is still at the discussion stage, and no final decision has been made.
It’s believed that Paris Saint-Germain will definitely not participate in the Super League, as the club’s president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, is also the president of the European Club Association. Under pressure from former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Manchester City has also pulled out of the project.
The "big" clubs from England, Italy, France, and Portugal are expected to take part in the Super League.
Reminder: It was previously reported that the tournament is scheduled to start in September 2025.
