Union Berlin took a serious step due to the team's recent failures.

As reported on the club's official website, head coach Urs Fischer left his position today.

The report said the decision was made jointly by club president Dirk Singler and Urs Fischer. They had a personal conversation on Monday, November 13, but the results became officially known only now.

Urs Fischer has led the capital team since July 2018. In the first season, he managed to rise with the team to the Bundesliga, and over the next three seasons, the team under the leadership of the German specialist took seventh, fifth and fourth places in the standings, making it to the Conference League, Europa League and Champions League.

It is Urs Fischer who is called the most successful Union coach in the history of the club to date. Along with Fischer, assistant coach Markus Hoffmann is leaving the club.

Note that Union Berlin's streak without a win is 14 matches. The last time they won the championship was at the end of August.
