Cristiano Ronaldo produced one of those misses that are almost impossible to explain.

Details: During Al Nassr's Saudi Pro League match against NEOM, the Portuguese forward wasted an incredible opportunity shortly after the break. In the 48th minute, Ronaldo found himself directly in front of an empty net, less than half a metre from goal, but somehow failed to turn the ball into the net.

The episode made Ronaldo's evening even more frustrating. Before the break, the 41-year-old had already been presented with another golden opportunity to score when Al Nassr were awarded a penalty. Ronaldo stepped up himself, but sent his effort wide in the 45+6th minute, and the teams went into half-time with the score still 0-0.

The second-half miss was even harder to believe because of the distance involved. With virtually the entire goal at his mercy and only a few dozen centimetres separating him from the line, Ronaldo failed to convert what appeared to be one of the simplest chances of the match.

Al Nassr eventually escaped with all three points despite their captain's unusual lack of efficiency. Mohamed Simakan scored the decisive goal in the 90+5th minute to secure a 1-0 victory over NEOM. It is worth noting that Ronaldo entered the match with five goals for Al Nassr across domestic and AFC competitions this season.

Reminder: Official verdict in Lisbon. Portugal Football Federation hands down punishment to Cristiano Ronaldo
