Inter's main defender will miss the 2024 European Championship

Inter's central defender Francesco Acerbi will miss Euro 2024.

The 35-year-old player sustained a groin injury, which will require several weeks of recovery, preventing him from returning in time for the start of Euro 2024.

The official website of the Italian Football Federation reports that Juventus' central defender Federico Gatti will replace Acerbi in the squad for the training camp.

This season, Acerbi played 38 matches for Inter across all competitions. He has earned 34 caps for the Italian national team.

The Italian national team will convene for a training camp tomorrow, and on June 4, they will play a friendly match against Turkey. Following that, they will also have a friendly game against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

At the European Championship, Luciano Spalletti's team will compete in a group alongside Spain, Croatia, and Albania.
