West Ham had long been pursuing Aston Villa striker Jhon Durán, but after his move to Saudi club Al-Nassr, the Hammers have shifted their focus to a new target.

Details: According to The Guardian, the London club is now aiming to sign Lille forward Jonathan David. Crucially, negotiations with the French club may not be necessary, as the 25-year-old Canadian’s contract expires in June.

This means West Ham only needs to reach an agreement with David himself and sign a pre-contract, which would then be converted into a full transfer in the summer. Lille, in turn, would receive no transfer fee, as David would be joining as a free agent.

Reminder: During the winter transfer window, West Ham reportedly offered Aston Villa £57 million for Durán.
