Incumbent FIFA president Gianni Infantino is planning to run for a fourth term in 2027. Although the organization’s statutes limit leadership to three mandates, Infantino is eligible to stand again because his initial term (2016–2019) was incomplete, following Sepp Blatter’s resignation.

Details: According to RMC Sport, the upcoming elections in Morocco may be a mere formality, as the two largest football regions have already pledged their support to him.

At a meeting in Vancouver, the Confederation of African Football unanimously decided to back Infantino’s candidacy for the 2027–2031 period. This guarantees him the votes of 54 associations—one quarter of the total electorate.

Following Africa’s announcement, the Asian Football Confederation also declared its support. The AFC executive committee expressed unwavering backing for the current FIFA president, highlighting a decade of successful cooperation and substantial growth in investment in Asian football. AFC president Sheikh Salman emphasized that under Infantino’s leadership, the organization has reached its highest standing in history.

Recall: It has been revealed whether legendary Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa will go to the World Cup.
