Incredible title race in the Netherlands. PSV fans react to Ajax rivals' decisive goal

The current season in the Dutch championship is delivering a truly stunning finale, especially in the battle for the title.

Details: Five rounds before the finish, Ajax was nine points ahead of PSV. It seemed the title race was all but over, as Francesco Farioli's side was in sensational form.

However, over the last four matches, Ajax managed to squander their advantage, and with just one game to go, PSV holds a one-point lead.

First, Ajax suffered a humiliating defeat to Utrecht (0-4), then drew with Sparta Rotterdam (1-1) and sensationally lost to Nijmegen (0-3).

Yesterday, the Amsterdam side was just moments away from securing a much-needed three points. Ajax led Groningen 2-1 on the road, and in added time their opponents were reduced to ten men. But in the ninth minute of stoppage time, Groningen earned a free kick and managed to convert it into a goal – 2-2.

Meanwhile, PSV are riding a six-match winning streak and yesterday crushed Heracles at home (4-1). A video surfaced online capturing the reaction of the Eindhoven club's fans to Groningen's second goal. At that point, PSV had already finished their match, but supporters stayed to watch the dramatic developments in the title race.

PSV are the defending Eredivisie champions, while Ajax have not lifted the trophy since 2022.
