It's hard to believe, but it's a fact.
Details: The Sudan national team advanced to the AFCON round of 16 thanks to a narrow win over Equatorial Guinea in the second round, with a score of 1-0. However, it's not that simple.
The catch is that the only goal in that match was an own goal by Equatorial Guinea's Saul Coco, making Sudan the only team in AFCON history to reach the knockout stage without scoring a single goal themselves.

Sudan's players failed to find the net in any of their three group stage matches. In the opening round, Sudan lost 0-3 to Algeria, followed by the aforementioned win over Equatorial Guinea thanks to an own goal, and in the final round, Sudan were beaten by Burkina Faso 0-2.
With 3 points and a goal difference of 1:5, Sudan managed to finish third in the group. That was enough to qualify for the next round as one of the best third-placed teams.
Incredible!
