Incredible milestone. Cristiano Ronaldo sets historic record for outfield players
In the match against Al-Tawoon, the forward of Saudi club Al-Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo, set a historic record for outfield players, playing his 1200th match in his professional career.
The 38-year-old Portuguese footballer has played for 7 teams throughout his career: Sporting B (2 matches, 0 goals), Sporting (31 matches, 5 goals), Manchester United (346 matches, 145 goals), Real Madrid (438 matches, 450 goals), Juventus (134 matches, 101 goals), Al-Nassr (44 matches, 38 goals), and the Portugal national team (205 matches, 128 goals).
Only Peter Shilton (1217) and Rogerio Ceni (1225), who performed as a goalkeeper, have played more matches in professional football.
Interestingly, Shilton played a total of 1390 matches, but in the final years of his career, he played in the lower divisions of England, which are not considered professional.
