The Argentine extended his remarkable tally during Inter Miami's 2-0 victory over Cruz Azul. Messi opened the scoring in the 24th minute, meeting Luis Suárez's cross with a header and putting his team ahead in the trophy-deciding match.
That strike produced another major milestone for the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner. It was Messi's 100th goal for Inter Miami in all competitions, a figure he reached in his 115th appearance for the Florida club. He later added an assist, delivering the corner from which Casemiro headed home the second goal in the 81st minute.
Messi's longevity remains remarkable: more than two decades after the beginning of his senior career, the forward is still adding individual and team records. It is worth noting that the Campeones Cup became the 49th senior trophy of Messi's career, extending his record as the most decorated footballer in history.
