Details: Created in close collaboration with his parents, wife, and legendary coaches and players, the book promises to be much more than just a chronicle of sporting triumphs—it offers a raw, emotional look at the life of the Portuguese star. According to The Mirror, the footballer's wife, Rute Cardoso, shares a moment in the book that will bring even the most stoic fans to tears.
Rute recalls that just hours before the tragic incident, she received the video from their wedding, which had taken place only 11 days before the accident. The last message she sent to her husband was filled with tenderness and the anticipation of a happy future together:
“Love, when you finish everything, call me—I have something to show you…”
Tragically, Diogo never got to see those moments, which became the last testament to their brief married happiness.
The biographers managed to bring together a truly unique lineup of voices for this book. Not only did the player’s parents and his grandfather, Fernando Silva, contribute, but so did the key figures who shaped his career: Jürgen Klopp, Arne Slot, and Roberto Martínez. Memories of Diogo as a friend and teammate were also shared by Virgil van Dijk, Bernardo Silva, Rúben Dias, and Rúben Neves.
This book stands as a tribute to a player whose life was cut short at the very peak of his career.
