In love with Nigeria: Boxer Anthony Joshua spends the holidays in his ancestral homeland
British boxer Anthony Joshua celebrated Christmas and New Year in Nigeria, sharing moments from his trip on Instagram and showcasing how he spent his time.
Joshua’s mother is Nigerian, and the athlete himself spent part of his childhood in the African country. This deep connection fuels his warm affection for Nigeria.
Joshua also expresses his love for his ancestral homeland through meaningful investments. He aims to promote boxing in Nigeria and is ready to fund projects that support its growth.
One such initiative involves the construction of an indoor boxing facility in Abeokuta, Ogun State, which is set to begin soon. During his trip, Joshua met with local officials to discuss the project.
Additionally, the boxer plans to establish a boxing academy in Nigeria to nurture local talent and give aspiring athletes opportunities to succeed.
“When I retire, probably I can think of setting up an academy in Nigeria, and if anyone wants to turn professional, we can also help them,” Joshua revealed in an interview.
