In Dakar, Patrice Motsepe defers to the CAS verdict regarding the decision of the CAF Appeal Board

The president of the Confederation of African Football is awaiting the final decision of the sports tribunal following the stripping of Senegal’s African championship title and its award to Morocco by an administrative decision on 17 March.

Patrice Motsepe’s visit to Senegal this 8 April was marked by a press conference. Speaking to the media, the CAF President sought to ease tensions. He stated that the Court of Arbitration for Sport is the body empowered to rule on this type of dispute in the world of sport.

As for the disputes relating to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final, they are currently in the hands of the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Whatever decision is reached, we will respect it. The CAS is the competent body to rule on the matter.
