During the night of Monday, March 18th, a match in the Argentine Primera División between Estudiantes and Boca Juniors was underway.

During the game, Estudiantes' player Javier Altamirano suffered a seizure attack. He fell onto the football field and began convulsing. Initially, he was assisted by another referee, Enzo Perez, until medical personnel intervened. Javier Altamirano was hospitalized at the Platense Medical Institute in La Plata.

According to Eduardo Dominguez in an interview with ESPN, Altamirano experienced another seizure in the ambulance, and his condition was only stabilized after he was admitted to the medical ward.

Estudiantes announced on their social media platforms that Javier Altamirano is currently hospitalized under observation. Doctors performed a computed tomography scan, which did not show any significant pathological findings.

Following this incident, the match was suspended by the referees and was never resumed.
