Iga Świątek played her second-round match of the WTA Finals against Coco Gauff and lost 0-2. This will affect her position in the overall rankings.

Details: Due to this loss, the Polish player will not return to the top spot in the WTA rankings. Aryna Sabalenka will finish the season at the top of the rankings.

Notably, she is the 16th player in history to end the year as the WTA’s number one. This is also the first time in tennis history that a player without a flag will finish the season as the top-ranked player.

Additionally, Novak Djokovic announced that due to an injury, he will not be able to play throughout the next week, meaning he will have to withdraw from the year-end tournament.
