“If we win at the CAS, they must award us a third star,” El-Hadji Diouf takes aim at CAF
The former Senegal international is contesting the legitimacy of the decision by the Appeals Committee of the Confederation of African Football.
In France for Senegal’s international friendly against Peru this Saturday 28 March, El-Hadji Diouf has once again spoken out about the decision to strip Senegal of the African championship title and award it to Morocco. But for the former Lion of Teranga, this debate is pointless. Senegal won its second Africa Cup of Nations on the pitch and there is no question of an administrative decision overturning that. In a more provocative tone, El-Hadji Diouf asserts that a third African champion’s star should be awarded to Senegal if it wins the legal battle before the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
As far as I’m concerned, we still have the two stars. I believe that if we win at the CAS, they should even give us a third star. You win the match on the pitch, you win the match off the pitch, so I believe Senegal deserves to have three stars.
