Manchester United and England's legendary striker Wayne Rooney has once again sparked talk about his passion for boxing.
Details: In a recent interview with British rapper Aitch, Wayne didn’t hesitate to name the media personality he'd most like to officially square off against in the ring. His choice? The well-known TV host Jonathan Ross.
Rooney’s love for combat sports is well-known: he trained in boxing during his youth at Everton, once walked Ricky Hatton to the ring in Las Vegas, and even became the star of a viral 2015 video where he was “knocked out” in his kitchen by former teammate Phil Bardsley. But picking Ross as an opponent has deep personal roots.
The feud dates back to 2003, when Ross mockingly ridiculed photos of a young Rooney vacationing with his parents on his show. In a 2022 Daily Mail interview, Wayne admitted that at the time he had a strong urge to “smack” the presenter. Now, when asked which celebrity he’d most like to face in a real fight, Rooney pointed to Ross—without explanation, but with unmistakable intent.
Reminder: Manchester United legend Butt named the perfect candidate for the club’s head coach position.
