Former Manchester United midfielder Nicky Butt has made a sensational statement regarding the future of the managerial seat at Old Trafford.
Details: In an interview with Manchester Evening News, Butt stated outright that the perfect candidate to rescue the club is none other than José Mourinho.
“I would love Mourinho to return. He’s a winner, he can lead this club to success,” Butt emphasized, adding that the club is desperately lacking a firm hand and the charisma of a true leader.
However, Butt is skeptical about whether INEOS management under Jim Ratcliffe would take such a step. According to the legend, the current club bosses are afraid of managers with strong opinions.
“Those in power will never allow it. They prefer someone who sticks strictly to coaching and doesn’t interfere in transfer policy,” Nicky noted.
He is convinced that any top-level manager would demand guarantees regarding the budget and authority—something the current Manchester United structure is not ready to provide.
It’s worth noting that during his first spell as Manchester United head coach, Mourinho managed to win the Europa League trophy, the English League Cup, and the FA Community Shield.
Reminder: The Premier League has named the best manager and best player of the past month.
