"I won't be there." LeBron James announced his participation in the Olympics
LeBron James is a legend of American sports and an undisputed leader of the national team. He debuted for the USA national team in 2004 at the Athens Olympics and has been a regular call-up since. Three years ago, on July 1, 2021, LeBron retired from the national team. However, this year, ahead of the Paris Olympics, he has rejoined the national squad.
This Olympics is likely to be LeBron's last in his career. During an interview with NBC, the basketball legend stated that he would not participate in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
"I won't be there. I'll leave the city when the Olympics come to Los Angeles. I will not be in Los Angeles in 2028. I'm leaving."
Paris will be LeBron James's fourth Olympic Games. After debuting in Athens, he also traveled with the team to Beijing in 2008 and London in 2012. At his first Olympics, the USA team won bronze medals, and in the next two editions, they claimed gold. Subsequently, the Americans won first place two more times, but LeBron was no longer part of the team.
By the time of the 2028 Olympics, the Lakers star will be 43 years old and may well have ended his career by then. It is worth noting that he recently extended his contract with the club for one year, and the team already has a potential replacement in the form of his eldest son, Bronny.
