“I take responsibility for this,” Mohamed Ouahbi, reflects on Morocco’s campaign at the 2026 World Cup
The Atlas Lions were knocked out in the quarter-finals by France
The Atlas Lions’ manager acknowledged that his team were not at their best during the quarter-final defeat.
The Moroccan national team exited the 2026 World Cup following their 2–0 defeat to France in the quarter-finals. Back in Morocco a few days later, Mohamed Ouahbi analysed his team’s campaign in detail during a press conference.
But despite the Moroccan team’s creditable performance, the manager has mixed feelings. Mohamed Ouahbi believes that the Atlas Lions were not at their best during their quarter-final match.
“We would have liked to have ended this tournament by being more true to ourselves, by showing our true identity. That wasn’t the case, and I take responsibility for that as manager.”
