Mbappé has close friends in the Moroccan squad—his current clubmate Brahim Díaz, and his former PSG teammate Achraf Hakimi. Mbappé admitted that after the heartbreaking loss, he spent half the night on the phone with Hakimi, and also urged the public not to put pressure on Brahim Díaz, who missed a penalty in the dying minutes of the match:
"I spent half the night talking to Hakimi on the phone. The Moroccan people have been waiting for this for years.
That's the life of a footballer. Brahim? We’ll need to help him when he returns to Real Madrid. Before thinking about the sporting side, we need to think about the person." – said Mbappé.
Mbappé played alongside Hakimi at PSG from 2021 to 2024, before moving to Real Madrid. Despite his departure from PSG, the strong friendship and mutual support between the two players remain unshakable.
