"I love these kinds of battles." Delap unfazed by his aggressive style

Forward Liam Delap has faced plenty of criticism for his rough style of play, which has resulted in him collecting more yellow cards for Ipswich than any Premier League defender. But Delap himself isn’t losing any sleep over it.

Details: Delap admitted he enjoys playing with such aggression, though he realizes it needs to be kept in check. As for the high number of yellow cards, he pointed out that last season was his first in the Premier League, so he’s still getting used to the refereeing here.

Of course, it has to be controlled, but ultimately—that’s my game, and I get a lot of enjoyment from it. I’ve always had that fighting mentality, and I’m not planning to change the way I think.

You just have to make sure you’re on the right side of that line. This was my first season in the Premier League, my first experience with VAR, so I need to get used to that and learn how to play in a way that picks up fewer cards. But I’m not worried about it. I can control my emotions when I need to," Delap said in an interview with The Athletic.
