"I haven't experienced that before". Southgate told the situation with injuries in the national team
England's head coach Gareth Southgate commented on the injured players in the national team.
The list of unavailable players includes Nick Pope, Kieran Trippier, Luke Shaw, Reece James, Marc Guehi, Levi Colwill, Tyrone Mings, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jack Grealish, Callum Wilson, Kyle Walker, Harry Maguire, and Harry Kane.
"We have an incredible number of players unavailable. I've never encountered anything like this before. But it means opportunities for others.
We saw in the Brazil game players seizing those opportunities, which is great for us as well. There might be more players we discover, but that's really helpful. To see all of these players in high-level games against high-quality opposition will help us make good decisions moving forward," Southgate told Sky Sports.
Southgate has called up young right-back Rico Lewis from Manchester City to the national team, who was with the England U-21s. Along with him, Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford has been called up.
Today, on March 26, England will play a friendly match against Belgium. The match kicks off at 20:45 Central European Time.
