"I fight while he whines". Teofimo Lopez hit out at Gervonta Davis
WBO junior welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez (19-1, 13 KOs) shared his thoughts on WBA lightweight titleholder Gervonta Davis (30-0, 28 KOs).
"Both Gervonta and I have speed, power, and boxing IQ, but I wasn't handed any of this. I’m the real deal. I don’t wipe away blood when I’m bleeding, I fight. And he whines.
When we sparred, he hit me on the nose and hurt his hand. He was like, 'Oh, damn.' I was 15, and he was 18," Lopez said on The Danza Project podcast.
It is worth recalling that on the night of June 15-16 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, USA, a major boxing event took place. In the main event, WBA lightweight world champion Gervonta Davis faced his compatriot and challenger Frank Martin.
Gervonta won by knockout in the eighth round. The challenger started the fight well but lost momentum before the middle rounds. In the eighth round, he lingered on the ropes, allowing the champion to knock him out.
Earlier, Teofimo Lopez had a tough call on Devin Haney, urging him to accept defeat and fight again against Ryan Garcia.
