Barcelona continue their legal battle in the Negreira case, and club president Joan Laporta has now taken the stand.
Details: According to El Confidencial, Laporta stated that he does not know who Negreira is, nor anyone from his inner circle. The Barça president insisted he had no connection to him whatsoever.
Quote: “In truth, I don’t even know Negreira or anyone around him. I’ve never had any relationship with them. We paid for reports, and under no circumstances were those payments made to gain favour for Barça. We didn’t need any special treatment.
I inherited those payments, I consulted the sporting department, and they told us to continue working with the reports. We don’t have the reports from the first phase because they’re destroyed every five years. The cost of those reports did not need to go through the board’s control. It’s simply a matter of the amount,” Laporta said.
Reminder: Barcelona’s coaching staff have informed their 33-year-old German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen that he has only two options for the next stage of his career.
