"I am responsible for this defeat" - CSK captain takes the blame for RCB meltdown
Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad refused to make excuses after a painful defeat to Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Details: In the Matchday 11 clash of IPL 2026 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Chennai couldn’t keep up with the hosts, falling short of a mammoth 250-run target.
“I take full responsibility for this loss,” Gaikwad stated bluntly after the match.
"After the 13th or 14th over, the situation was still balanced (about 50-50), but then the game just slipped out of our hands. Sarfaraz Khan and Prashant Veer fought valiantly, but honestly, this loss is extremely humiliating for us. We’ll do everything we can to bounce back in the next match," he added.
Despite heroic efforts from Sarfaraz Khan (50 runs) and Prashant Veer (43 runs), who tried to rescue a hopeless situation, Chennai suffered their third straight defeat of the season.
Reminder: Ian Bishop criticized the Indian cricket board for its cold farewells to legends.
