Renowned commentator and former West Indies international Ian Bishop has delivered a scathing critique of how Indian cricket handles the farewells of its greatest players.

Details: In a recent interview, Bishop voiced deep disappointment with the way the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) treats veterans who have spent years forging the glory of the national sport.

"In Indian cricket, no matter how great a player is, after a certain point many do not receive the send-off they truly deserve," Bishop stated.

"I've seen several outstanding cricketers announce their retirement while sitting at home, not even given the opportunity to play a farewell match. Every player who has given so much to this game deserves respect and a fitting farewell on the field. Their final match should be a moment of honor and celebration," he added.

Bishop nostalgically recalled Sachin Tendulkar's 2013 retirement, calling it a benchmark:

"That was truly special and respectful—that's the kind of farewell every great athlete deserves," Bishop concluded.

Reminder: MS Dhoni has officially announced his retirement from the IPL.
