Hummels' replacement. The German national team defender moved to Borussia Dortmund

Following Mats Hummels' departure from the club as a free agent, Borussia Dortmund swiftly secured a replacement.

According to Germany's sporting director, Rudi Völler, the "Black and Yellows" have agreed on the transfer of Stuttgart's central defender, Waldemar Anton.

"Waldemar Anton will join Borussia Dortmund," Völler announced at a press conference.

Per Fabrizio Romano, the transfer will cost the 2023/24 Champions League finalists €22 million.

The 27-year-old Anton, who captained Stuttgart to a surprising second-place finish in the Bundesliga last season, made 33 league appearances. Thus far, he has earned only two caps for the German national team.
